Yesterday I spoke to one of my best friends and she was asking me if I knew a place that does a good bikini wax & not even a good 30 minutes later I saw a status from a friend that was getting a Brazilian wax. Well I told her where I went & so on but I also let her know what to look out for. I feel compelled to share this info with everyone now that I know it by being a California Licensed Esthetician because its so easy to walk into somewhere & literally "lay it out all on the table". It all boils down to being clean & sanitizing/disinfecting properly.

If you go to a nail shop to get a pedicure, do you watch as your manicurist cleans out the foot spa after you finish? Or even better when he or she reaches in to get an implement from a "clean" labeled container vs. a "soiled" label container? Some years ago in the state of California nail salons were getting shut down for those lovely foot spa's w/the massaging chair because they didn't clean out the trap. So when state board came out they found dead skin & other particles in the trap.

When it comes down to waxing check out the wax warmers. If they look dirty, wax all over them, hair, etc...that's not clean. Check out the wax stick too. If you see someone waxing a persons eyebrows, how many times do they use the same stick? Do they use one stick & throw it away right after? These are things people might not really think about because its a simple & quick service but at the same time that same service could leave you at risk for a lot of "little" things.

The spread of infection is real. So real that HIV, Herpes, Chlamydia, HPV, etc. can be in that same pot of wax or that same cuticle cutter used on you that has been used on the person before you & before them.

So to eliminate you from being one of those people who could possibly get a foot fungus from a "simple" cut on the toe @ your favorite nail salon or getting your "va-jay-jay" waxed with the same stick & wax that the previous person used here are my suggestions/tips for you:

1. Ask around- there is nothing wrong with asking questions. The teachers would tell students from the beginning "there are no stupid questions" especially if you don't know. Ask people you trust about the places they go to have certain services done.

2. Open your eyes & look- trust me if you catch someone doing something wrong in a salon setting they know what they are doing. So let them know you know too. Some folks forget about state board disinfection procedures once they leave school or their job wont require them to fulfill the complete disinfection procedures but frankly they know whats wrong & whats right w/o being told. So dont be afraid to say something because it is unsafe for YOU and others.

3. Bring your own supplies- if you are skeptical you can always bring your own supplies. I told my friend to bring her own wax if she wants when it comes time for her service. It can put your mind @ ease knowing that you are safe & free of any nasty STI's, bacteria & fungus because believe me some people have the attitude "what you don't know, wont hurt you" & in this case it could.

I truly hope this helps someone because I never thought before school how often things were properly handled or even what the proper procedures were. I would go get my eyebrows waxed, manicure/pedicure, brazilian, etc. not knowing or even thinking about what happened before I arrived.

i have a shoot today w/ a good friend of mine and this lovely guy! he so lovely he can pass for a woman....no seriously! i love his look! i have some new ideas to shoot and i cant wait to get this thing crackin! im on my way to the glendale galleria mac store because i have a beautiful nail polish waiting on me called soiree from their cham pale collection. i also bought the highlighting powder that come out called rose ole. its soooo pretty! now its time for me to be outta here! happy new year and happy friday! talk to ya soon.....

whats new?

well im a couple of days away from finishing school and going to state board on tuesday....yes the 14th lol. im a little nervous but im sure ill do well. not to toot my own horn but i feel really good and ive been doing really good too. im sooooo ready to start my life off right i just cant wait! im going to take the time to get myself together physically, mentally, financially and all other ways too. well i have some new images to post and i hope you enjoy them. this young lady is flawless skinned shante lol. i absolutely love her look. from her hair to her cheek bones, she is amazing and sweet too. i have to work with her again and soon.

i have recently been thinking of starting up my very own product line exclusively for men. now a days you have more men who are interested in stepping up their game when it comes to their skin care. i am hoping to start a line that is NOT all chemically formulated but more with natural ingredients that are healthy for the skin. we are in the era of anti-aging and everyone wants to anti-age lol. so why not start if off naturally? most people don't realize that the mass majority of your skin's damage happens in between the ages of 20-22. most women are conscience of their skin so we start the anti-aging process earlier than must men.

so fellas, what do you use to wash your face with? bar soap, a facial cleanser, just water, etc.

if there was something you would use, what would it be? cleanser, scrub, moisturizer, sun block/screen, after shave toner or maybe even a mask, etc.

its a beautiful day in the neighborhood.....

today was a very nice day out. i had a shoot planned and got through some of it then we lost our light....but hey it happens! the location is absolutely beautiful! nestled in the angeles national forest looks like something you would see in twilight. pics to come soon so keep an eye out.

hey folks,

its been awhile since I've posted anything. well just to catch up I'm almost finished w/ school (thank GOD), hopefully i will have a job come January 2011 @ Burke Williams Day Spa in WEHO (crossing fingers), i have had to put 2 of my beloved dogs down Bud and Oreo (my 2 OG'S) in March and Today unfortunately. i am sad but i know in my heart i made the right decision. so its only Lucky, Mimi and Baylee left. on a happier note i have been shooting more and over the summer i did my 1st film called "Isis Dynasty" starting Fatima Washington, Faizon Love, Tanika Ray and some other celebs and comedians. needless to say im excited to actually see everything come together. within the last couple of months i have had 2 new nieces marley and savannah. i havent been buying mac products as much i have started exploring my other mu options and im pretty impressed with them. smashbox is cool, occ make up is nice and make up forever is great too. to sum it all up ive been thru somethings this year but its still been a great year. there are positives and negative to go around but i try and focus on the positive. hope all is well w/ everyone and ill talk to you soon!

My exciting week @ school.

Well i guess it has been that long since I've posted anything! geesh! lol but since then I have had the most fun I've had in awhile. I started school @ Cerritos College for Esthetics and I must admit it was the best decision I have ever made. I have learned so much and I have been so blessed to be able to experience all of what skin care has to offer. This week alone was amazing were I said I'm sold on doing this for the rest of my life. Tuesday, I met James Vincent! He was so inspiring and just all around wonderful. LOVE HIM!! He told me when I finish school to contact him and believe me I surely will! I was soooo excited to meet him. Today I had the pleasure of meeting Jane Wurwand, the founder of Dermalogica and the International Dermal Institute (IDI). The whole day was just so cool. The facility was beautiful, the Estheticians were so cool and informative. This week was just so refreshing and to end it off the Make Up Show LA on Sunday! This week alone was just so amazing and this is just the beginning of it all! Can't wait to see what else is in store. Until next time folks.....

the station fire knocking @ my front door

well back in late august there was a huge fire called the station terrifying the residents of the san gabriel valley and of course im one of them. ya know staring @ this fire was quite amazing. i have never been so close to one before and it was scary, amazing, very color filled and hot at the same time lol. we had a seventies parties while the fire was going on and it was pretty fun.

over the 4th of july hoilday weekend i did a photoshoot w/ a great model who look was so versatile it was crazy. you tell me does she look 16? model mayhem works wonders. thx frenchi and jun for making this shoot so cool.

ALRIGHT NOW......

well folks im back and i have so much to post. starting from my last post, i had a photoshoot w/ a young lady called "frenchi" over the 4th of july weekend and it was so fun. my summer has been filled with some great opportunities. i have done more work with FIDM, i did a music video for a guy named el rey ft. radio aktive skinny jeans which was really fun and i did my very 1st fashion show for LUCKY BRAND JEANS and can i say i love them!!! my summer has been pretty interesting. i thought i was a big girl starting to venture out and make my own and find love but it looks like that is not the case anymore. i am or i think i am still in an open relationship with a man who is in alabama. i have been to visit twice and this last time i think kinda sealed the deal on if we are gonna be together. he is a great guy that i love very much but im still up in the air with that. so ill be posting pics of my trip as well. also, in august there was a huge fire pretty much right above my house in the mountains called the station fire and w/ all of that going on you know we couldnt have stopped partying so we had a huge 70's themed party that was sooo fun. i have some footage of that was well. so with that being said let me start posting some of these pics!

YESTERDAY

yesterday is a day ill never forget. while sitting at the nail shop my phone vibrates with an message reading "MICHAEL JACKSON DEAD AT 50 DUE TO CARDIAC ARREST, R.I.P. MJ". I instantly checked the entertainment news from my cell phone and got nothing. i waited and checked again and still nothing. until the text messages started to overflow my phone with r.i.p michael jackson and my cell phone started to ring with calls saying, "girl have you heard?" and "girl did you hear?!". i was floored and in disbelief. told my nail tech nancy what i heard and she turned the television on immediately! we picked up kcal9 and there it was...Michael Jackson hospitalized due to cardiac arrest. it hadnt been confirmed whether or not it was true and i was really hoping it wasnt. moments later they put everyone's wondering to rest because it was true!! michael joseph jackson had passed away at 50 as a result of result of cardiac arrest! my mouth was wide open because i couldnt believe it! this musical icon, this legend that i grew up listening to, watching, imitating has died! its crazy! it still doesnt feel real! while driving home all you heard was micahel jackson songs and watching any music tv station had nothing on but michael jackson videos to consistently remind you if his passing. all i can say is the heart goes out to the jackson family! it feels as if a part of my childhood memories have been changed dramatically. you look at icons as if they are invicible and then the unexpected happens and there is the reality staring you in the face. R.I.P MICHAEL JACKSON. YOU HAVE TOUCHED SOME MANY PEOPLE'S LIVES WITH YOUR LYRICS, MOVES AND JUST ALL AROUND PERSONALITY. YOUR MEMORY WILL LIVE ON FOREVER!
